Happiness

Last weekend two families made their way to Berlin. It was time to celebrate: the marriage of Cihan and me. After 2.5 years of a distance relationship, we decided to get one step more serious. We married. It was a decision made not long before, so the celebration was small, but nice. The close families were there and some friends. We had a great day with great people, good food and even the sun showed up, unexpected. Thanks again for making this great day possible and being part of it!

Some days after, Cihan went back to Ankara, his last weeks working, and in two months, I’ll move to his work flat in Hessen. Then, after three years, the distance is over. I feel incredible… happy, very happy. Even though there are some steps to be done: Mainly, maybe the hardest thing for me is leaving beautiful Berlin and the youngsters I’m working with, the friends I met here. But I’m also happy after long moving together with the person I love. And I also move closer to my family, which I can see much more often then.

But now, enough of talking… happiness cannot be put into words as much as I feel it. Maybe this picture is showing a little bit of our happiness:

Unfortunately it’s in German, but interesting to watch.

“Gegen die Leinwand – 40m² Deutschland” – A Turkish guy living and working marries a Turkish woman which is moving to his small flat (40m²) in Hamburg. His wife is not leaving that flat at all, since he is locking her in there for protectiong her from the bad world around. His wife is getting closer and closer to getting crazy. -> 13.10.2011, 8PM, Eiszeit-Kino
“Gegen die Leinwand – Abschied vom falschen Paradies” – A Turkish woman in Germany is imprisoned because of killing her husband. In the prison she finds herself and gets to know German reality. Due to good behaviour she can leave earlier. But now she’s at a high risk being sent back to Turkey. This includes being put back to necessities which she just overcame. -> 14.10.2011, 8PM, Ballhaus Naunynstraße
“Gegen die Leinwand – Lebewohl Fremde” – The asylum seeker Deniz (a Turk) is living togther with a pakistani and an African in an old constructing car. He gets to know the GErman fotographer Karin, which is hiding him in a farmers house when he is going to be sent back to Turkey. After some while they are forced to show up. Back in Turkey he’s sent back to the prison. Shortly after, Karin learns that he died. -> 15.10.2011, 8PM, Eiszeit-Kino

Today I met a friend of mine, and I decided to open a new category on my blog: “What to do?” is for events taking place in the next days and weeks in the city I am in at the very moment. So since I’m living in Berlin still, it’s gonna be about Berlin.

Why the idea came up? Because we realized that for getting to know a city, information is needed. It’s hard finding informations alone, but, as Eleni and I, exchange is important. So let’s start the new series: “What to do in …”

In two weeks, I’ll spend my last night as Katharina S. In two weeks and 13hours, I’ll be Katharina K. Now it’s public, I’m getting married and I’m very happy! Things are going good for me at the moment (let’s not talk about the papers I still have to write): my husband in spe found a job in Germany, I’ll move there and we marry

The dress is bought, the shoes are here, his clothes are bought (partly), the guests are invited, the hotels are booked, the restaurants chosen… The day can come!

Even though it’s a strange feeling… I’ll be married soon… I don’t see myself as a typical housewife… Time is gonna show…

Bruno Mars, I first met him, when my boyfriend was telling me “yeah… see this Bruno Mars concert banner? He’s a great musician, we have to check him onine.” And when we came home, there was only horrible music from him… A typical boygroup sound. Even though the lyrics were not that bad.
